The 2007 Florida Statewide Immunization Summit

2007 Florida Immunization SummitThis year's summit took place April 24 - 25, 2007 in Orlando, Florida at The Florida Hotel & Conference Center at the Florida Mall. This event, hosted by Central Florida AHEC, Inc., with the Florida Department of Health's Bureau of Immunization, focused on updating the state's ublic and private providers on immunizations and assisting practitioners with reaching the goal of achieving 90 percent coverage of Florida's two-year-olds by July 2007.

The summit was well attended. Over 300 participants were addressed the State Surgeon General, Ana M. Viamonte Ros, M.D., PhD. Attendees also heard from influential Centers for Disease Control and Prevention staff Jeanne Santoli, M.D., M.P.H., and William L. Atkinson, M.D., M.P.H. regarding vaccine recommendations for children and the challenges faced by healthcare staff who work with preschoolers. Excellent presentations were given on a variety of immunization topics, as shown in the summit agenda linked on this page.
